Volvo specify latest valve technology KPM's range of pilot valves which was previewed in KPM News last year, is already generating significant sales throughout Europe. With its number of unique features, the RCV foot operated remote control valve in particular has been greeted with tremendous enthusiasm in the market. These features include a check valve and the latest in integral damping mechanisms. These greatly increase controllability, particularly over rough terrain, whilst reducing the total number of components utilised, maximising efficiency and minimising noise emission. A variety of spring options allow for the selection of operating force against lever angle and any combination of pedal or lever types are available with or without shuttle valves. Reliability and precision are further enhanced with a resilient dustproof boot, large return and control flow galleries and a robust monobloc construction for rigid mounting. It was these features, along with KPM's customer service commitment, that were factors in Volvo Compact & Service Equipment's specification of the RCV foot operated remote control valves on their new state of the art 13 and 16 tonne hydraulic excavators; machines which represent a significant advance within their sector. Volvo required a valve with a very precise level of control for tracking speed and direction of the crawler type machines and travel speed in the wheel type machines. Among Volvo's requirements was a cruise control option, which was developed especially for them by KPM.
